Hi there, I'm Veysel Emekçi! 👋
I'm a product designer with a background in mechanical engineering. During my internships in production, I discovered my interest in product design.
I enrolled in the Google UX Design and University of Minnesota User Interface Design certificate programs and, after completing them, started my career as a UI/UX designer. I worked in a team of four (two developers, a product manager, and me) as the only designer. Being the only designer this early in my career was challenging, but I learned a lot from it. In my free time I started doing freelance website design, and my client base grew through referrals.
Meanwhile I started my master's degree in industrial product design. I did my thesis research on the use of AI in UI design practise. I developed six prompting strategies based on academic theories and turned them into guidelines that UI designers can use in their workflows. I also introduced the Intent-Output Alignment Pattern as an original framework. The thesis also looks at how AI may change the role of designers in professional practice. One day I'd like to pursue a PhD in this area.
My engineering background helps me work closely with developers and explain design decisions in terms they care about. I have a strong interest in clean and intuitive design.
